the tomatoes are in. the deer know the tomatoes are in. it is now a war of attrition. i have chosen violence (netting).

found a hornworm on the tomato plants. big enough to name. did not name it. relocated it (violently) to a bush 30 feet away. we are not friends now.

bought a new pair of pruning shears at 7am because the old ones made me curse at a rose bush. investment: $34. peace: priceless.

my neighbor asked if she could "pop by for basil" and now i am cutting the entire plant to protect the future of basil. sorry, basil. this is on her.

an update on the basil situation: neighbor has moved on to zucchini requests. i have three zucchini plants. i cannot give her one because then it will be baby cucumbers next week. we do not negotiate with escalation.
